Sacred Study | Contemplative Movement | Spiritual Care

Will you come?

Your spiritual life bears the marks of what you have lived, loved, desired, believed, rejected, and outgrown in your life with God and yourself.Your spiritual life is cumulative and consequential. It is also ongoing and not finished.Altar(ed) catches us when the “not finished” part of spiritual life overwhelms our certainty about ourselves and about God.Through contemplative practice and accompaniment, we study our weary, threadbare, changing lives and decide how to grow. So, friend, just come as you are.

01.

Sacred Study

We bring our intelligence, questions, and lived experience into relationship with sacred texts and each other.

02.

Contemplative Movement

We study our bodies through artful attention to breath, sensation, movement, and stillness.Because our bodies, too, are sacred texts.

03.

spiritual care

The "not finished part" takes you deep into the cave. You want company. I'll bring a light.

Tayana L. Hardin

PhD, MDiv, CYT

I am a daughter of the black holiness tradition.I was raised on altar calls and Sunday evening services. The sounds of tambourines and the Hammond organ still mark the rhythm of my life.My life has taken me far from the small Kentucky town where I was raised and farther still from the red bricked church where mystery, mysticism, and miracles were valued currency. But the altar call remains. It is the heartbeat of my spiritual practice and ongoing formation.
